NYC Summer Crush review and swatches

Have you seen this display in your drugstore yet? It caught my eye while making a frequent trip to my RiteAid beauty section to browse new things. I had to pick up the palette with the pink, yellow, and orange. There was a $.50 coupon on the display making the palette $4.49 (from the $4.99 normal price).

The palette name is 960 Summer Crush. It consists of a cream highlighter, eyeshadow base, orange, yellow, pink and purple eyeshadows and the little sponge applicator.

I had high hopes of excellent pigmentation and intense color from these shadows. I was let down.

The orange and purple shades were hard to swatch, and happen to have the most shimmer of the four, though there isn't much shimmer.

The yellow and pink are the more matte of the four and were the easiest to build and apply.

All the shades require a base and layers of color to achieve a somewhat wearable effect. If you want brightness in a sheer way, you might love these as is.

For $4.99, you really get what you pay for, but NYC needs to catch up to Wet n Wild's pigmentation. I have been wearing these shades for two days now and they actually wear pretty well. There is some fading, especially the purple, but when I cleansed my face last night the color was still there.
