You know that cupcakes are a food group all their own in my world, right?
I not only have become obsessed with watching the show D.C. Cupcakes, but I am obsessed with making cupcakes. I wish I had the knowledge they do to be able to create my own flavors and designs. I would love to intern at a bakery, or volunteer in exchange for lessons (You hear this Louisville?).
Today was a baby step into experimentation with chocolate cupcakes (from a box) and homemade peanut butter frosting. My goal was a taste similar to a Nutty Bar and it was close. These are the most delicious cupcakes! I don't even like peanut butter much, but these were good!
Recipe for frosting:
4 cups confectioners sugar
1/2 cup all natural peanut butter
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup 2% milk
Mix all in a bowl starting with wet ingredients. If mixture is too wet, add more sugar, too dry, add more milk.
I can't wait to start experimenting with fondants and flowers and piping. It is a whole new creative outlet for me.
I would love to try more recipes, especially more non-traditional type flavors. If you have a great recipe, please send it to me to try out and show on my blog. My e-mail is firstname.lastname@example.org.
