Feeling Blah Again

I apologize to anyone who actually reads my blog. I have not felt motivated in a couple weeks to post anything. I have been doing a lot of self reflecting and trying to figure out where I want to go with my life. Sometimes I think it would be better to quit blogging and makeup and do something else. There are only 2.5 million blogs out there about beauty, so that market is pretty tough.

I have been thinking about why I spend so much time with makeup and buying 100 pink lipsticks or having 20 bottles of foundation. I realize that it started with insecurity within myself and it continues in one form or another. The fact is, I already have too much makeup. I need to be getting rid of half of what I have that I will never be able to use instead of continuing to buy more. It just doesn't make me happy anymore.

On another note, I got the Bare Escentuals TSV for April in the mail and it is going back. It is great if you need a basic kit. I just can't get the Ready foundation to last…

Chanel 33 Prelude quad- Swatches

Chanel Les 4 Ombres Quadra Eye Shadow 33 Prelude

Prelude is a neutral taupey/grey slightly olive quad. The shades are nicely pigmented but muted. They blend together nicely and would work great as an everyday kit. I would not reach for this if I were going for dramatic. As far as what I like, I actually find these colors boring. If you want a look that is understated, this quad would be perfect.

Chanel Kaska Beige/ Raffinement Comparison

Chanel has a habit of discontinuing beloved items that addicts like me will seek and find and pay much more than they are worth just to have them in our collection. Such is the case with Chanel's discontinued Kaska Beige quad.

There are two quads I really wanted that are no longer available- Kaska Beige and Winter Nights.

I was able to find Kaska Beige on Makeup Alley...yay!!!

For those who are not as lucky at finding this quad, I was told that Raffinement is it's "replacement." I thought I would compare the two for you, so you can see for yourself if Kaska Beige is worth the hunt.

Kaska Beige
Top Row- Kaska Beige Bottom Row- Raffinement
The palettes, though both neutral and quite brown, are quite different from one another.

Kaska Beige is much warmer with a pale gold highlight shade and the warm golden brown shimmer shade. The two darker browns are more neutral and dupable, but the warm golden brown is the star of this palette.

Raffinement is a neutral …

Maybelline 210 Coral Burst blush Review

Maybelline recently released three baked type blushes with their Spring collection. I picked up two of them, but will only be reviewing one in this post, the Coral Burst 210.

Coral burst cost me around $6 at Walgreen's and is marked as Limited Edition.

Coral Burst is a dark orange with a golden sheen. There is no pink or coral to this blush at all. It is pure pumpkin orange.

I was interested in this shade to see how dupable it was for my more expensive Chanel Frivole.

Let's take a look.

Frivole on cheeks
In the pan the shades look quite different from each other, making the Frivole look more coral and the Coral Burst looking more orange. On the skin, they look very similar. Once buffed into the skin, the Coral Burst loses the golden sheen and gives a beautiful warm, peachy glow. The Frivole looks very similar, though it looks a tad more pink on the cheek…

Chanel Spring 2013- Review and Swatches

I have a small Chanel obsession at the moment, so prepare for several Chanel type posts.

highlighter size on left vs blush and shadow size on right Wearing La Favorite and Frivole

I really loved the Spring 2013 collection, and wanted more from it than I purchased, but ended up buying four pieces from the collection.

I had to have the highlight powder! It looked so gorgeous online and the reviews had all been positive. It did not disappoint!

Poudre Signee De Chanel $68
The top half has no product and the bottom half has the highlight powder buffed in.

This powder gives the softest sheen in an almost beigey/pink/gold mix that looks very angelic on the skin. It is a glowy look that is not shiny or shimmery. I really love it!

The next product I had to have was the blush in Frivole. I did not have anything close to this soft orange shade in my collection, and I love Chanel blushes!

Joues Contraste 76 Frivole $43
The top is buffed in and the bottom is more heavily swatched.
This orange sha…
